IT & Digital Strategy

Make coordination part of your digital strategy

Medtasker sits between your PAS, EMR, ED and operational systems as a communication and coordination layer. It’s proven in Australia and New Zealand as the most robust, secure and effective task management solution for health services.

Modernising hospital communication

Pager and DECT phone replacement

Medtasker has completely replaced pagers across a number of hospitals, improving communication and coordination across clinical and operational teams, from doctors to security staff. If you’re looking to retire outdated technology for something your staff will readily adopt, Medtasker has the track record.

Address WhatsApp and texting security headaches

Hospitals face ongoing privacy and confidentiality risks when staff rely on unauthorised communication tools, because they’ve never been given a secure, fit-for-purpose alternative. Even pager systems are vulnerable, with intercepted radio signals exposing confidential patient information.*

Medtasker addresses these risks with a purpose-built communication platform staff are willing to adopt.

Deploys at the pace your teams can sustain.

Many health services adopt Medtasker one service at a time, such as after-hours clinical coordination, emergency code response or support services, expanding as value is demonstrated. We’ve never had a service stop using Medtasker after the first go-live.

Each implementation is delivered by a PRINCE2-certified project manager working alongside your internal project team. The framework runs through project initiation, technical configuration, user acceptance testing, training, go-live support and post-implementation review.

We understand what can derail software deployments in healthcare. From change management and resourcing pressures to third-party integration dependencies and BYOD or MDM readiness. We actively work with customers to manage these risks upfront.

Built for the way hospitals adopt technology
  • Cloud or on-premise deployment options
  • Hospital-issued, BYOD, or mixed device strategy supported
  • Android and iOS apps, with desktop computer access for coordination roles
  • Customised implementation plans aligned to your clinical and operational priorities
  • Common deployment risks surfaced early, managed jointly
At Royal Hobart Hospital, Medtasker was implemented as a standalone solution that integrated with legacy hospital systems and complemented existing processes. Scope expanded progressively: ED referrals first, then admitting teams, theatre, pharmacy and finally a full Hospital at Night model of care.
The success of this project saw the Tasmanian Department of Health roll out Medtasker statewide across its other health services.

Frequently asked questions

Medtasker sits between your existing clinical, administrative and operational systems as a coordination layer. It integrates with systems such as patient administration, EMR, ED, nurse call and patient monitoring platforms, coordinating the operational work that flows between them without replacing existing infrastructure.

Many hospitals have spent the last decade digitising clinical records. The next challenge is coordinating the work that happens between systems, teams and sites. As hospitals face increasing demand, workforce pressures and governance requirements, operational visibility and coordination have become strategic priorities alongside clinical digitisation.

Medtasker supports deployment in Australian and New Zealand AWS regions and aligns with recognised healthcare security and privacy frameworks. The platform supports single sign-on, role-based access controls, multi-factor authentication and integration with existing identity and device management environments. No patient data is stored on end-user devices.

Most hospitals begin with a single workflow before expanding. Implementations are delivered alongside your project team and aligned to existing governance, infrastructure and change management processes. This staged approach reduces risk, accelerates adoption and allows value to be demonstrated early.

Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) are designed to document care and maintain the clinical record. Medtasker is designed to coordinate work and communication across teams, systems and workflows in real time. It captures operational activity, escalations and handovers that are often managed through phones, pagers, emails and disconnected systems, creating operational visibility that most EMRs do not provide.

Medtasker has been deployed across more than 50 hospitals in Australia and New Zealand and has coordinated more than 10 million clinical and operational tasks. Our team specialises in healthcare delivery environments, with implementation, support and product development delivered from Australia and shaped by ongoing customer collaboration.
